The Longest Cat Whiskers

 

Ellie, a brown/black Maine Coon, has the longest single whisker on a cat measuring 16.5 cm (6.5 in) on Febraury 15, 2004. The feline lives at the home of Sheri and Mitchell Rutherford, in Woodland Hills, California, USA. The Rutherfords took Ellie from a cat rescue shelter in 1997. She was only a few months old and was very weak; she had no whiskers. After a few months of love and care, good health returned and her whiskers started to grow and grow and grow!

The longest whisker on a cat measured 17.4 cm (6.8 in) on July 30, 2004 and belong to Mingo, a Maine coon, who lives with her owner, Marina Merne in Turku, Finland.
